Family Prayers, Psalm 25

Family Prayer Time
Jo Jo gets comfortable in a favourite armchair and encourages us to use Psalm 25 in prayer as a family. Jo Jo gives us three options:

  1. Read Psalm 25 in its entirety as a prayer – taking in turns as a family to read the verses – it’s a prayer of Guidance.
  2. Write a prayer as a family based on Psalm 25 – a prayer in your own words, relevant for your own family.
  3. Read parts of Psalm 25 as a prayer – verses that are relevant at this time for your family.

Family Prayer, God’s Post Box

In this video, Jo Jo looks at a way we can say thank you to God, and remind ourselves when we’re down how good God really is.

Andy B used an old cardboard box, cutting off the top and using it as a lid.

With a small slit for posting our prayers of thanks, and some red paper glued to the outside, he made the perfect, custom, post box.

Family Prayers, Habakkuk Prayer

For our Family Prayer Time, Jo Jo takes Habakkuk’s prayer – from Habakkuk chapter 3 – as a template for making her own to show us how we can use scripture to make our own, very personal, prayers.

This is the template she made up:

  1. Praise God
  2. Ask God for help
  3. God’s power
  4. God’s mercy
  5. God & creation
  6. How you feel
  7. Praise always
  8. God is…

And in prayer form, it became this:
Even though there is the Corona Virus in our world, and there is no vaccine or cure.
Even though we must wear masks on buses and trains and in the shops, and we must keep our distance from so many people.
Even though there are empty shelves and its difficult to get stuff from the shops.
I will still praise you Lord.
I find joy in you, my God, my Saviour.
You are Good, you protect me, you love me, and you help me.
You are all I need.
Amen
