Plans to prosper you
I was hit with the realisation that God had helped me to devise efficient plans to enable me to journal and read my bible daily, making these both effective and regular. And that I could apply a plan or strategy in a similar way to my healthy eating and fitness, Do’oh!
Prior to following the daily bible reading plan, which I had glued into the front of my well worn bible many years ago, my bible reading was all over the place. If I got really stuck I did that trick where you pray and then open the bible to a random passage, hoping that was the one God wanted you to read. Don’t get me wrong, that has actually worked in the past for me! Or I would just wrestle with what book to read next, wasting time and stressing myself out! The plan works; it keeps me on track and helps me to be self-disciplined in my bible reading. I have got behind on my reading, I admit, but caught up and I am quite determined not to do that again, because it’s much easier to stay on track than play catch up! The plan gives me something to aim for and helps keep me motivated.
This blog has done the same thing for my journaling; I have been able to complete an entry everyday since starting and have been more thorough and thoughtful about my recordings, knowing it can be read by others. In addition, I have found myself delving deeper into scripture and learning so much more, it’s all good.
I shall see how it goes when I apply a good plan to my eating and exercise. My eating habits are in the main healthy, but I have a tendency to eat too much and as a result my weight fluctuates and I have still not been able to reach my goals. As far as my exercise goes, my exercise has a tendency to become irregular and I am not pushing myself hard enough. As my son, Steven, pointed out as he cycled alongside me this morning as I was out for a ‘run’:
‘Mummy, I think, from now on you need to say you are going out for a jog, not a run. When I run I’m much faster than this!’
He’s right, so I stepped up a gear and felt the pain! I thought I might find a gem in proverbs about planning and in Psalm 13:16 it says,
‘A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t and even brags about it!’
I will seek God’s direction and guidance, as I did with the bible plan and the blog and I am reminded of the scripture that tells me the plans God has for me are to prosper me and not to harm me:
“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11
