Andy read from Christianity Today on the popularity of Psalm 23:  christiantoday.com

Question 2: Anything you don’t understand? Discussion on preparing a table in the presence of enemies and the significance of oil in the culture of the day. Steven noted the significance of the cup overflowing, in terms of hospitality this means that the guest wants you to stay, you are welcome

Question 3: What stands out the most this time of reading Psalm 23? Andy: verse 4: Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Andy shared notes from the Life Application Study Bible for verse 4. Nathan: verse 3: he refreshes my soul, he guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. For his name’s sake – for God’s glory. Jo – in agreement with Nathan on verse 3, how God guides us for his glory, like he guided the Israelites, parting the red sea showed His power, His glory – we need to show people to Jesus, not get in the way – all to God’s glory. Peter: when we wander off, God is quick to find us. Andy: amazed that the rod and staff guides and kills. Andy: notes from study bible: ‘When we allow God, our shepherd, to guide us, we have contentment.

Encouragements: 1. encouraged family to use their S.W.A.T (Stress, Worry, Anxiety, Tension) books to record feelings as a psalm to God like David did. 2. encouraged family to memorise Psalm 23  share next Monday 20th August 2018.

Prayer – through our family prayer list for August 2018 – Answer to prayer today – Nathan’s Photo frame replacement for broken birthday present arrived safely and working well, yeh!
